Last week we went on a full-day charter fishing trip from Islamorada and had an excellent time. It was important to get to the docks early and get out to the atlantic side quickly took focus on getting some live bait in the bait well. The goal was to get out there and try to get a bunch of yellowtail, and perhaps we get lucky and maybe get a blue Fin tuna or a big grouper. There's a lot of good areas that you can anchor to out past the lighthouse. If you can catch some ballyhoo, those are great bait for some of the bigger fish out there. The captain of the boat found an Underwater shipwreck structure in about 200 feet of water. It is really good to fish around the Shipwrecks, as structure is a big deal down here for the fish to hang out around. We like the easy way to fish sometimes and that is using the bottom rods. Down on the bottom are all kinds of good things to eat including some Mutton Snapper. It is so fun when you feel the line in your hand getting really tight and the fishing pole starts to bend over. From the moment you had the sensation of a fish on the end of the hook, for most people it's all smiles! We loved the trip fishing down here and would recommend it for everyone.
